Capo Deli first opened in 2017 after Co-Founder Andy Seligman convinced the owners of his regular college deli, V&S Deli in Boca Raton, Florida, to open a second location in DC to solve DC's lack of authentic Italian delis. At first, Capo did not market their ‘Backroom’ and entry required an access code only given to select individuals (and whoever those people gave it to). Today, the Backroom is open Thursday-Saturday (and the occasional Tuesday for GUES formal 😉) and boasts three (soon-to-be four) deli locations in the DMV.

Capo was kind enough to open up the Backroom for thirty of us to have plenty of space to eat and meet with the general manager to discuss Capo’s backstory and what it looks like running a speakeasy, all while enjoying some phenomenal sandwiches.
